CNG Truck Trial
We have introduced new Biomethane Compressed Natural Gas (Bio-CNG) trucks to our distribution fleet. The trucks reduce CO2 emissions by 85% compared to standard Diesel trucks therefore are a further step towards our sustainability goals.
This new sustainable technology has replaced two of our diesel-powered HGVs following successful trials.
Bio-CNG is derived from non-fossil fuel sources such as food and animal waste. Our supplier, CNG Fuels, has plans to increase the volume of animal waste used which will reduce emissions further with a target to achieve Net-Zero. So Bio-CNG fuel is not only a sustainable solution but also a cost effective one as it is around 20% cheaper than diesel.
With a range of 500km and an expanding well connected network of fuel stations, the new trucks balance savings with driver comfort and a cleaner refuelling process compared to diesel and other new technologies like LNG.
