Worcester Bosch donation helps budding scientists look the part

• We have joined forces with Tardebigge CE Primary School to aid their commitment to science
• 35 lab coats have been provided to ensure pupils feel like genuine scientists
• Children in Reception through to Year 4 will benefit from the new lab coats
• Science Leaders from Year 4 presented the coats to the school in a special assembly

We have joined forces with Tardebigge CE First School to make sure its budding scientists look the part by supplying 35 new lab coats to be used across the school, led by the newly formed year 4 Science Leaders.

One of the school’s key focuses for the year is to develop its pupils’ love of science. Increased lessons dedicated to the subject plus activities that go beyond the curriculum have all been covered, but the school was also keen that the children also feel inspired by the learning. Looking like ‘genuine’ scientists was a key feature of this.

With STEM topics so important to the heart of our business, we were delighted to get involved and be able to encourage the next generation of engineers and scientists.  The lab coats, which boast the Worcester Bosch logo, will be used by students from Reception to year 4 and were delivered in time for the Science Leaders to present the idea in a special assembly to get everyone on board.

Mrs Kelly Horton, Year 3 Teacher at Tardebigge School said:

“We would like to say a huge thank you to Worcester Bosch for their generosity and support in funding the lab coats. The children will be looking at real life scientists and their impact on the current world as part of this learning. However, we want to go further so the children tread in their footsteps where possible, make mistakes and learn from them. To do this, the children need to feel like scientists, and, although not all scientists wear lab coats, it does help the children focus on the skills they are being asked to use.

“The school has put a huge emphasis on maths in recent years and through bringing science to the fore this year, we will be merging these skills and subjects as much as possible.”
