Celebrities visit Worcester at Chelsea

Celebrities were keen to find about more about energy saving and renewable technology when they visited Worcester, Bosch Group's 'The Power of Nature' Urban Garden at this year's Chelsea Flower Show.

The garden, which was sponsored by Worcester, was designed by Olivia Kirk of KKE Architects and scooped a coveted 'Gold' Award from the judges for its combination of renewable technology and beautiful planting.

Aiming to demonstrate how the forces of nature can be harnessed to provide heat and hot water for our homes, it has certainly proved a winner with those who stopped by for a chat.

Worcester's energy-efficient renewable technology - including solar panels set into the walls, striking solar evacuated tube features and ground source heat pump collectors - were worked into the design and cleverly set against a beautiful, planting scheme to bring in the strong elements of earth, wind, fire and water.

The garden has already seen TV crews for BBC 1 and 2 filming numerous times on the garden as part of their ongoing coverage of the show aired throughout the day.

Presenters Alan Titchmarsh, Joe Swift, Rachel de Thame and Toby Buckland have all taken a seat on the riven slate circle, designed to represent the earth, to talk about the energy-efficient theme, comment on the flow of planting and the fusion of technology with nature.

The Power of Nature Urban Garden has also had its fair share of celebrity visitors over its first few days too. The likes of Linda Barker, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Arlene Phillips, actors Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter, Judith Chalmers, Mark Durden-Smith, Michael Parkinson and Jo Whiley are amongst those who have dropped in to take a closer look and find out more.

"We have certainly enjoyed celebrity watching and it has been great to be part of the filming as it has made viewers search out our garden when they arrived at the show."

Continuing the popular renewable theme, the beautiful garden will be rebuilt at Worcester's headquarters in Worcestershire ahead of its 50th birthday celebrations in 2012, so that it becomes a lasting space that all visitors can enjoy for years to come.

The Power of Nature Urban Garden can currently be seen at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2011 between 24th - 28th May 2011.
