Our Response to the Price Cap Announcement
Published: 26-08-2022
On August 26, Ofgem announced that gas and electricity prices will rise again. From 1st October, the typical annual household energy bill is set to hit £3,549, which is an 80% rise on the current energy price cap of £1,971.
This disappointing confirmation should sadly come as no surprise to homeowners. The steep increase will be of great concern to many across the UK, and with another review in January where prices could go even higher, our concerns will only continue.
We may not be able to prevent the price rise but there are ways we can all reduce the price of our bills by saving on our energy usage. For example, we would urge people to use their heating and hot water systems as sparingly as they can, whether this be challenging yourself to take a four-minute shower instead of one that lasts ten minutes or turning down your room thermostat setting by a degree in the autumn and winter months. Investing in a smart control to monitor this will make it even easier.
These changes may not reduce your overall cost, but they will all help significantly in reducing your energy bill at the end of every month and lessen the impact of these disappointing price rises.
At Worcester Bosch we want to offer our support, particularly during the colder months in autumn and winter. We have developed a dedicated webpage which hosts advice, information and energy saving tips in relation to the rising cost of gas bills.
